My remark: in all respects similar to marula seed oil: a high proportion of oleic acid for the care of all types of skin. Along with tiger nut oil (chufa oil) and olive oil, one of the oils rich in oleic acid for hair care
Oral use: yes, but rarely. Very stable during the frying process.
Moringa (drumstick tree, horseradish tree) is a low tree up to 15 meters high, it grows wild in northeastern India. It is extremely drought resistant and is grown in areas that have low rainfall. It is very popular for food use in its homeland, northern India. In cultivation, it is usually kept at the “bonsai” version, up to 2 meters high. The seeds from which the oil is obtained are located in large capsules up to 45cm long. Immature capsules and seeds are used as food.
Moringa oil belongs to the class of oils rich in oleic acid, similar to marula, olive oil, camellia seed oil and almond oil. It is quickly absorbed, has a very neutral scent and is used as another of the oils for general skin care, as well as hair treatments and shampoos.
The unsaponifiable matter content is not particularly impressive: it contains 15mg/kg α-tocopherol, 25mg/kg γ-tocopherol and 15mg/kg δ-tocopherol. Nevertheless, it is extremely stable due to the profile of fatty acids that are not prone to oxidation (oleic and palmitic acid).
Moringa oil can be of interest in light oil serums and emulsion systems for daily skin care, usually in combination with more nourishing oils. If we want to use it for dry skin, it is ideal to combine it with oils rich in α-linolenic acid such as lingonberry oil. You will get one very fine and extremely light nourishing serum. Combined with another oil rich in α-linolenic acid, kukui, you will get a very fast absorbing serum for dry and combination skin.
